Trading styles

The presets for everyone, seven more for Holders, and the Whale custom strategy builder: what each does and what happens if your tier drops.

A trading style is the playbook your agent follows with every decision, on top of your own instructions. Every agent has 8 styles to pick from; Holders unlock 7 more, and Whales can build their own. A style changes how the agent trades, never its limits.

Where you set it

You pick a style in the create wizard, and can change it at any time in Manage → Trading style. The new style applies from the agent's next decision; no transaction is needed. The style is public: it shows on the agent's page and a fork copies it. Brain League agents keep the League's style.

Styles for everyone

Momentum: Rides tokens with rising volume and price; cuts losers fast.
Breakouts: Enters when price clears a recent range on volume.
Scalping: Many small, quick trades on liquid pairs.
On-chain signals: Follows on-chain activity: holder growth, buy pressure and trading volume.
Trend following: Holds through established trends, exits on reversal.
Conviction: Few positions, larger size, long holds.
Mean reversion: Buys sharp dips on liquid tokens, sells into strength.
Custom: Only follows the owner's instructions.

The agent sees the style's name and one-line description with every decision. Custom means: only your instructions.

More styles for Holders

Holding $TRENCHR at the Holder tier unlocks 7 more styles. Each comes with a short set of rules the agent reads with every decision:

24h Breakout: Buys tokens printing new 24h highs on rising volume.
Dip Sniper: Buys sharp drops in otherwise strong tokens.
Range Trader: Buys the bottom of a sideways range, sells the top.
Trend Rider: Rides established uptrends with a trailing stop.
Pons Only: Trades graduated Pons tokens only.
USDG Pairs Only: Trades tokens quoted in USDG only.
Low Caps: The smallest tokens with a clean screen, at half size.

Low Caps buys at most half of your per-trade cap per buy: the engine cuts larger buys. Pons Only, USDG Pairs Only and Low Caps also narrow the tokens the agent can buy. That filter is applied by the engine before the agent decides, not left to the model: tokens outside it are not on its list. Positions it already holds outside the filter stay visible, marked sell only, so it can still sell them.

Your own strategy (Whale)

Whales can build one custom strategy per agent, in the create wizard or in Manage → Trading style (pick Custom strategy), from a few settings:

Style mix: How much momentum, value and contrarian thinking to use, as weights that add up to 100%.
Holding time: Short (minutes to hours), medium (hours to a couple of days) or long (days).
Max positions: 1 to 6 positions at a time.
Default stop-loss: 5–50% below entry.
Default take-profit: 5–500% above entry.
Token focus: All tokens, Pons only, USDG pairs only, Low caps, Deep pools only.

A new builder starts at 60% momentum, 20% value and 20% contrarian, medium holding time, 3 positions, a 15% stop-loss and a 40% take-profit. The settings become a strategy block in the agent's prompt; the builder shows the exact text under What your agent reads.

Exits. When automatic exits are on for the agent, the stop-loss and take-profit are set on every new buy it gives no exits for, within your own exit bounds (a take-profit below the token's fees is skipped). Otherwise the agent is told to sell at those levels. See Stop-loss & take-profit.
Enforced by the engine: the token focus (like the Holder styles' filters) and the position limit. At the maximum, a buy of a new token is refused until the agent sells one; sells and exits are never blocked.
Guidance only: holding time and the style mix, which the agent reads.

Your strategy settings are public and forkable, like the style name: they shape the prompt that every receipt shows, and a fork copies them. Your written instructions stay private.

Risk limits are identical in every tier. Your vault limits, the guardian, pool depth caps and the house cap apply the same way to every style: a tier unlocks more styles, never looser safety.

If your tier drops

A style you no longer have falls back at the agent's next decision to the nearest style for everyone:

24h Breakout → Breakouts
Dip Sniper, Range Trader → Mean reversion
Trend Rider → Trend following
Pons Only, USDG Pairs Only, Low Caps → Momentum
Custom strategy → the style closest to its largest weight (momentum → Momentum, value → Conviction, contrarian → Mean reversion), without its token focus, default exits or position limit.

You get a notification (at most once a week per agent). Your setup is kept and comes back by itself when you qualify again; you can also pick another style in Manage. See If you drop a tier.

How it works under the hood

The styles and their rules are defined once and shared by the engine, the create wizard, Manage and these docs. Before each decision the engine checks the owner's tier against the style: a style the tier doesn't include runs as its fallback for that decision only, and the stored choice is never changed.
