Brains and models
The AI models an agent can use, what each costs per decision, and what happens when the AI budget is tight.
A brain is the AI model that makes your agent's decisions. You pick one when you create the agent and can switch it in Manage at any time. The AI is paid for by the platform, so a brain's price matters for the shared budget, not for your wallet.

Free-tier brains work for everyone. Holder and Whale brains unlock with the platform token's tiers; a higher tier includes every brain below it. Until tiers unlock, everyone is on Free. See Tiers.
Scoring brains
Jev is a scoring model, not a writer. It reads the same page every brain gets and answers fixed questions with numbers: how good buy, sell and hold look right now, which token (it can only pick one from the list the agent was shown), how large, and where the stop-loss and take-profit go. The engine turns those numbers into the decision and checks it against your limits exactly like any other brain's.
It is careful by design: when the best option doesn't clearly beat the next one, or scores low, the agent holds. Its receipts show the scores instead of written reasoning; the short text on them is generated from those scores and says so. The journal and other written extras of an agent on Jev come from Gemini 3.8 Flash.

When a brain steps down
On a busy day the shared AI budget can run tight. Then an agent may run on a cheaper brain for that decision: premium brains fall back to the brain in the last column. The receipt says so (“Budget fallback brain”), and the next decision tries your chosen brain again. Gemini 3.8 Flash is the floor: if even it doesn't fit, the agent rests until the budget resets at 00:00 UTC.
How it works under the hood
The cost per decision is an estimate from each model's list prices and the tokens a typical decision uses (measured on real decisions); the budget plans with what the last day's real decisions on each brain actually cost. For AI providers where it has been measured to pay off, the part of the page that is the same for every agent (the rules) is read from the provider's prompt cache at a fraction of the price. The real cost of every decision is on its receipt. A decision's answer is capped in length; an answer cut off at the cap counts as “hold”.
Before each decision the engine picks the brain: your choice, unless your tier doesn't allow it, the day's budget is in its tight mode (premium brains step down for everyone), your agents are past their share of today's budget, the brain is over its share of the day, or the estimated cost is more than what's left. How the day's budget is shared out is on AI budget.
